Chittaurgarh Fort
Believed to have been contructed by mori rulers in the 7th century , this
fort is located on a 180 meter high hill , covering 700 acres . It is 5 km.
long north to south , but only 3/4 km. at its widest , east to west .Tablets
and chattris lie between several monumental gates.
MehranGarh Fort (Jodhpur)
Mehrangarh Fort was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 when he moved his capital
here from nearby Mandore. There are palaces housed within this daunting
structure among which are Moti Mahal and Phool Mahal.
Kumbhalgarh Fort
The kumbhalgarh Fort was built in 15th century A.D. by Maharana Kumbha
(1419-63 A.D.) and is the principal fortification after Chittaurgarh, lying
90 km north-west of Udaiopur.
The massive fort, encompassed by a 36 km long wall, hasseven kajestic gates
and seven ramparts, one within the other. Rounded bastions and soaring watch
towers strengthen the crenallated walls of the fort making it an impregnable
structure.
Jaisalmer Fort(Jaisalmer)
Jaisalmer Fort built in 1156 A.D. by Rawal Jailsal, the Fort (often called
Sonar Qila) crowns the 80-m-high Trikuta Hill. About a fourth of the old
city's population resides within the fort walls. The fort has 99 bastions
around its circumference. There is a group of five Jain Tamples within the
fort built between the 12th and 15th centuries. The temples are open only
till 12 noon.
Junagarh
Fort(Bikaner)
A beautiful and well maintained fort, it has several palaces. Among them
are Karan Mahal, Anup Mahal, Badal Mahal are prominent.
Taragarh Fort(Bundi)
Built in 1354 A.D., the fort is one of he most impressive forts of
Rajasthan. Perched on a thickly wooded hill is a marvellous white fort with
a huge reservoir which once supplied water to the palace.
